African challenges
Tanzania is one of the developing countries in Africa that is facing considerable healthcare challenges. Lack of resources and good medicines prevents doctors to control diseases. A shortage of well trained staff and adequate equipment make it impossible for hospitals to offer high quality health services.
Luckily an improving network of health care facilities exists, reaching from dispensaries to district hospitals. These facilities have been able to provide healthcare to millions of people in remote areas. Despite limited resources, hospital managers throughout Tanzania are successfully focusing on the millennium goals.
Through the Cordaid Memisa program "Pay for Performance" Tragpi makes an effort to transfer knowledge on healthcare efficiency and quality measurement to these hospital managers, consequently helping to improve the Tanzanian healthcare system.
